Disorders of Porphyrin Metabolism (Topics in Hematology)
Published in Hardcover by Plenum Pub Corp (April, 1988)
Average review score:

A Comprehensive Overview of an Unknown DiseaseDr. Michael Moore has MD has done a splendid job in his comprehensive overview of a very complex and unknown disease. I have found myself referring to his book often as I travel my journey of porphyria as an AIP patient. Porphyria is a greatly undiagnosed and underdiagnosed disease. Dr. Moore has taken a complex disorder and written his book in such a way that patients can better understand their disorder and at the same time be able to share that information with others who are completely unfamiliar with porphyria including many primary care physicians. An excellent resource and reference book!
VERY WELL WRITTEN!This book is recommended by me all the time. I wish I had found it long ago, but better late than never. When my husband found this book he paid a lot for it and I thought, "It's not going to help." I was so wrong! This book is excellent and researched to the max. I wish the authors would do an update!

Dolemite : the story of Rudy Ray Moore
Published in Paperback by Awesome Records (01 June, 1996)
Average review score:

AN ULTIMATE TRAGEDY NOT TOO MUCH UNLIKE THE TITANICThe only tragedy about this book is that there are'nt Moore pages. I was truely in awe after every word that I read. This book kept me glued to my seat. I find the career of Sir Ray Moore a perfect analogie of "The Ship of Dreams", The R.M.S. Titanic. As she left port (Peaty Wheatstraw) she was a strong force to be reckoned with, and she was very long too. As The ship of dreams picked up Moore passengers, she gained momentum (Dolemite) until that fateful night where she stoped so suddenly and sank to rock bottom (Disco Godfather). But much like the memory of the mighty Titanic, Rudy Ray Moore will remain hard, in our hearts. "OH DOLEMITE, IM SO HAPPY, IM GONNA TELL EVERYONE DOLEMITE IS COMING HOME"-Queen Bee
The Shabazz siblings' foray into the world of Rudy Ray MooreThis fascinating biography, written by Julian & David Shabazz, chronicles the meteoric rise of one of the world's most influential comedians of the late 1970's, Rudy Ray Moore. The book explores Moore's unerring lust for comic superstardom, a drive that propelled him to the very top of the entertainment scene for much of his adult life. Powered by sharp wit and raw dynamism, Moore created what is arguably the most popular icon of modern folklore: the sassy, street-smart Dolemite, a man whose sexual and fighting prowess have made him the legend of choice for today's black youths. Dolemite is the very embodiment of coolness and style, created by Moore to be a reflection of his own self. The Shabazz siblings also detail Moore's many other characters, from the affable Petey Wheatstraw (or, as he was known to the many pimps and street hustlers of his day, "Mr. Excitment") to the dangerously-menacing Disco Godfather, who mastered the ancient art of karate in order to win back his plundered nightclub. The book also covers Moore's eventual fall into movie obscurity, the end result of a sickening downward spiral that included drugs, hustling and, ultimately, death. Overall, this biography is very well-crafted and contains just the right combination of hard-hitting drama and steamy sexual hijinks, two elements which Rudy Ray Moore not only pioneered but was made famous for.

Dynamic Duos

The magic of making upIn this delightful Steig classic Kate and Caleb argue over something silly. A furious Caleb wanders into the forest and falls asleep under a tree. While he dreams, a witch turns him into a dog. He comes home, of course, but can only bark. The bereft Kate wonders what became of her faithful mate, fearful that he did not know how much she cared, until one night robbers steal into the house, her dog scares them off and the witch's evil spell is undone. When Caleb is once again himself, he resumes a loving life with Kate. A great story to show kids that while grownups sometimes argue, they still love one another, and usually make up.
CHILDREN AGE 10 AND UNDER WILL LOVE THIS ONE!MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER LOVED FOR ME TO READ THIS STORY TO HER IN THE EARLY 80'S. LITTLE DID I KNOW I WOULD END UP WITH A GRANDSON NAMED CALEB.

Each New DayCorrie ten Boom is timeless. We all need someone to look up to and Corrie is a wonderful mentor and inspiration to Christians everywhere. I have read this book several times and have purchased it for gifts as well. The reader will refer to it again and again and receive many blessings and great direction. Corrie always seems to touch on whatever is troubling you. You will not be disappointed. The Hiding Place which is the story of her life is also a wonderful book.
Each New Day Gets Better and BetterThis book is very encouraging and uplifting! It gives one so much direction on how to live the life of a Christian, day to day. There are 365 devotions, as well as a short passage from Corrie, with relevant scriptures to match, and Corrie's prayer for the reader. There are so many examples Corrie uses from personal experience and each one of Corrie's books remain so anointed! There is a wealth of information in this book that brings us Corrie's lifetime of lessons. I hope this book will bring you the joy Corrie intended you to have, in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The best compilation of Mary's messages. This book contains the most important messages our Holy Mother has given us so far. This is like a manual that tells us what God expect us to do in order to save our souls from hell.
Este libro contiene los mensajes mas importantes que nuestra Santisima Madre nos ha dado. Es como un manual el cual nos dice que es los que Dios quiere que hagamos para salvar nuestras almas del el infierno.

An excellent resource and text...Moore and Bruder have, in my view, provided an excellent philosophical resource. The 3rd and 4th editions have proved invaluable in my work, both as a student and an instructor. I have no doubt that the 5th edition equals its predecessors and would readily adopt it as the required text in any Introductory Philosophy course.
the best of philosophy all in one book! This book does an excellent job of explaining concepts and ideas of different philosophers throughout history. It is almost like Cliffs Notes for philosophy. I would recommend this book to anyone who is having trouble understanding the readings of Plato, Aristotle, Hegel, Hume, Spinoza, Kant, or any other great minds. This book is an excellent reference and is highly recommended.

Encyclopedia of Alzheimer's Disease With Directories of Research, Treatment and Care Facilities: With Directories of Research, Treatment, and Care fa
Published in Hardcover by McFarland & Company (08 January, 2003)
Average review score:

An excellent book for understanding this devastating diseaseAfter hearing that The Encyclopedia of Alzheimer's Disease was honored as one of the top 25 reference books for 2002 by the New York Public Library Association, I immediately went out and bought this book. Now, when I talk to my mother's doctor, I quickly look up the unfamiliar terms and understand everything that he is saving. My husband's father also has Alzheimer's Disease and lives in another state which was making things difficult in finding the proper care for him. The Nursing Home Directory in the book helped us locate a good home for him who works closely with us even from a distance. Having 2 family members with Alzheimers is difficult to say the least, buying this book made it so much easier for us to understand what is going on and what we can expect in the future.
I was fortunate in meeting the authors at the Library's award ceremony. The authors' backgrounds in pharmacology, immunology and public housing provided them the necessary background to thoroughly investigate all of the aspects of Alzheimer's Disease and its care. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimer's disease. It's also a must for anyone who needs to arrange for the care of a loved one afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease or a related disorder.

Up to Date Information and UnderstandingThis comprehensive tome touches on risk factors, brain chemistry, current research, therapies, diagnostic tests, disease course, alternative medical options, genetic concerns, biochemical changes, disease stages, support groups, nutrition, insurance concerns, caregiver issues, housing options, daycare, innovative and traditional nursing homes and both quality and end of life issues. The encyclopedia is followed by a comprehensive list of research facilities, resources and nursing homes that specialize in the treatment of AD patients. A much-needed reference for anyone involved with AD.

Essentials of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Published in Paperback by W B Saunders (February, 1998)
Average review score:

An excellet bookThis is a very good book of Obs and Gyn which provided a lot of information on simple way. Everything what is important is bolded on each lesson. It doesn't contain many pictures and schemes and this is the only disadvantage, but that is quiet enough for good understanding. It is suitable for medical students (everything important is signed) and for physicians who work or intend to work on Obs and Gyn Department (to have some concise book for him when they can find everything they want). I highly recommend this title.
An insightful reference bookThis book contains a wealth of knowledge for any caretaker of the Obstetric or Gynecology Patient. I found this book extremely easy to use as a cross reference book and it largely aided me in my research. It covers the basics, such as general female anatomy, as well as more complex issues like AIDS in pregnancy. Important information appeared in bolder print and drew my eye, making it easy to skim over in a hurry. I highly recommend this book.

Everybody's Somebody's Lunch
Published in Hardcover by Tilbury House Publishers (June, 2003)
Average review score:

Writing that will stir your soulThis is a book that should be in every elementary school library and classroom. Opening children's eyes to new discoveries, and making children aware of life and death cycles in nature are key concepts of the book. The topic of predator vs. prey is approached from an original, creative, and non-threatening manner. The plot of the book involves a young girl coming to terms with the death of her cat, Mouser, whose collar she finds in a wooded area near her home. The layout and design of the book are outstanding. The amount of white space in the wide margins and also found around the print makes the book easy to read. The high quality of paper used for the book, allows the full page illustrations to reflect accurate color schemes selected by the artist at their best advantage. The illustrated book jacket and matching illustrated book cover in library binding makes the book both sturdy and an aesthetic delight. It is the kind of book that develops, in children, an awareness of beauty both in nature and in art. It also exposes children to a style of writing in prose that is poetic and clear. The quality of writing can be compared to the style of E.B.White, whose book, "Charlotte's Web" is a memorable classic. In fact, Everybody's Somebody's Lunch is a contemporary classic because it's plot is timeless, characters believable, theme universal, quality outstanding, and appeals to all generations; both young and old. I recommend it highly for all elementary school teachers without hesitation. Tilbury House Publishers in Gardiner, Maine should be congratulated for a wonderful publication.
An accessible book for kids about predators and preyOur family's Scottish terrier recently brought home a partially-eaten rabbit, and the kids freaked. It was hard to explain why he had killed the rabbit, and why it was OK for him to do so. EVERYBODY'S SOMEBODY'S LUNCH was recommended by our local bookstore and it really helped my husband and me out...and the kids, and the dog! We're all predators, and we're all prey, and that's how it works. Mason's lively book gets that point across engagingly and positively, with factual accuracy in a non-saccharine but also non-gory way. Mason is a well-known conservationist and author of THE WILD FOX, which the kids also loved. I've never seen predator-prey relationships addressed in a children's book before. Thanks, Ms. Mason, for helping us out!
